Hotel Kuretakeso Takayama Ekimae

New hotel! No parking must use public about a block away.

This hotel room has no space for walking: we checked in 2 adults, they provided us 3 beds changed to 2 beds, they both look like a hostel room with 1/3 meter space between the beds. No space for luggage. Even smaller than the cruise ship state room.

The hotel is conveniently located near public transportation, making it easy to get around

There was a queue for breakfast, and better arrangement—such as assigning breakfast time slots—would help avoid peak-time rushes.

Public bath was great. Loved all the little samples to try. Free curry dinner was a nice touch. Staff was lovely and helpful.

The room is clean. The staff are very nice and helpful. Location is behind the train and bus station and 10 mins walk to the old town.

The hotel is well located, with easy access to attractions and transportation. The room I stayed in was not large, but it met my needs.

This hotel is super easy to walk to once you exit the Takayama station. The tall building and large signage - you can't miss it. Being so close to the station means that you're also within walking distance of the old town and lots of Takayama attractions. Hotel staff were friendly and professional, and the room was very nicely presented. The only thing I will say, for visitors to note -- the hotel is on the *opposite* side of the station compared to the side with most of Takayama's tourist attractions. Not a big deal at all, it just means you become familiar with the short walk through the station to start your day. :)

Very functional, quiet & comfortable hotel. 3 min. walk from main Takayama train and bus station. Walking distance to most attractions. Free welcome happy hour drink.

Staff did not speak one word of English. If you need information, there is a good tourist info center in front of the entrance to the train station.

The location was perfect for the Autumn Festival and the town in general. Great amenities and very clean.

Mattress is as hard as Japanese cypress wood, even for me who likes hard mattresses. Check-in took for ever.Smell from the shower curtain in the bathroom

Location: close to the station. Around 2-min walkFurniture seemed quite new. Close to a supermarket. A McDonald was just next door.

Too much furniture that created the problem of insufficient space to move around. Eventually, I left my adaptor in the hotel and I had to borrow it from the hotel of next stop.

Excellent location right next to the train station. We bought the breakfast and it was incredible!

Very well located,just a few minutes walking from station. Furthermore, close (basically next to) to Mcdonalds.Free use of massage chair and public onsen, and there are lots of complimentary stuff that you can take with you(face masks for the lady).The shower pressure was also strong

Extremely small room.Public bath was just ok.Last minute I needed to add an extra night .The hotel I was staying at did not have any rooms available for my extra night.Hotel Kuretakeso charged double what my first really good hotel changed me for a way smaller room , smaller public bath.Better search for a better hotel.

Great location on the quieter side of the train station. Walkable to everything in Takayama. The happy hour was a nice surprise! On-site laundry for 300 yen was also super helpful.

Pillow was a little flat but didn't negatively impact my sleep.

We have traveled to six prefectures and chose this hotel because of its location and the attractive photos on Booking.com — unfortunately, it looks nice only in the pictures.

When we arrived at the hotel, the staff did not greet us or say “welcome.” We even met a staff member in the elevator, but she completely ignored us, even though it was our first time here and we had no idea how to find the front desk.The public bathroom was disappointing — the hot water was extremely hot, and because it’s located next to the sauna, the whole area felt uncomfortably hot.Breakfast was also a letdown. Although breakfast ends at 9:30 a.m., we went at 8:00 a.m. and many dishes were already almost empty, with some looking like leftovers.Overall, the hospitality and service did not meet expectations.
